Bible Study -- The Gospel of Luke

Tuesday, February 23rd @ 6:00 pm
St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church
Collect for Ash Wednesday -- The beginning of Lent:

Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and
forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new
and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and
acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the God of all
mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for
ever and ever.  Amen.

Lent is generally observed as a time of penance by abstaining from
festivities, by almsgiving, and by devoting more than the usual
amount of time to religious exercises. Recently, more emphasis has
been placed on these practices rather than on physical fasting. We
are offering bible study throughout Lent with the Methodist Church
each Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. I also am encouraging reading
and reflecting on the upcoming weeks scriptures which will be
included in the weekly worship bulletin, in this publication and on the
church web site. I have also included two links for daily meditations
and to the Lectionary Page:
